FOSTORIA COIN CLUB

The Fostoria Coin Club met Monday June 16, 2008, 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church on W. Center Street in Fostoria. Pres. Chuck Brandeberry called the meeting to order and welcomed the 17 members. The secretary and treasure reports were read and approved. Pres. Brandeberry read a note received from John Lovric saying he hoped he would feel well enough to attend a meeting in the near future. Concerns were given for Loy Luman who has been hospitalized recently.

Old Business:

New Business: Secretary Hopkins told about reading an article in the Fostoria paper that a 3rd grader, Trey Yates, was awarded a $100 scholarship from the Northwest Ohio Consortium of Coordinators for Gifted to encourage his interest and knowledge of coins. The Fostoria Coin Club gave Trey a 2008 Red Book and a pamphlet about our club in recognition of his hobby.

Bruce Hanny asked questions about wheat pennies and their mint marks that Layton Shultz was able to answer.

President Brandeberry read a letter from Todd James, executive director of the Fostoria Chapter of the American Red Cross, offering to give a 15 minute presentation about the Red Cross services. Members felt that since it was not coin related we would not respond to the letter.

Meeting was adjourned by Garry Phelps and Emily Rivest. Phil Warrington conducted a 23 lot auction, in the absence of Dave Moyer. The junior door prize was won by Levi Brandeberry and the senior door prize was won by Betty Houser. The next meeting will be July 21, 7:30 p.m.

Respectively submitted,

Suzanne Hopkins, Secretary
